Early Education

Imam Mohammed Mahin Saiyed was raised in Birmingham, where his engagement with the Qur’an began at an early age. By the age of twelve, he had completed the memorisation of the Qur’an, laying a firm spiritual and intellectual foundation that would shape his lifelong commitment to sacred learning.

Alongside his Qur’anic studies, he progressed through formal education while steadily cultivating a disciplined approach to study, reflection, and scholarly enquiry—qualities that would later define his work in the Islamic sciences.

Sacred & Advanced Studies

Imam Mahin formally entered advanced Islamic study through the Dars-i Nizami Alimiyyah programme, graduating in 2019 with a specialisation in Fiqh and Islamic Legal Theory. This period grounded him in the core traditional sciences and refined his ability to engage critically with juristic texts and legal reasoning.

Seeking broader scholarly exposure, he travelled to Egypt, where he immersed himself in the classical disciplines of Hadith, Arabic grammar and rhetoric, Arabic phonetics, and Islamic theology. He also undertook detailed study of comparative jurisprudence across the recognised Sunni legal schools. Studying with scholars connected to al-Azhar and the wider Egyptian scholarly tradition, his training reflects a deep engagement with one of the most enduring centres of Islamic learning.

His pursuit of knowledge later took him to Istanbul, where he continued advanced studies in Qur’anic exegesis and Hadith under leading Syrian scholars based in the region, further enriching his methodological breadth and scholarly maturity.

Teaching & Scholarly Service

Alongside his studies, Imam Mahin has served the Muslim community as an Imam in several UK cities, including Warrington, London, Nottingham, Cardiff, and Rotherham. In these roles, he has combined pastoral leadership with teaching responsibilities, delivering lessons in classical Arabic and the sacred sciences.

His scholarly engagement has also extended into academic research, where he has contributed to projects in collaboration with the University of Manchester, reflecting his ability to bridge traditional scholarship with contemporary academic environments.

Projects & Teaching

Imam Mohammed Mahin Saiyed currently serves as an Advisor to Ihsan Inkwell, where he plays a key role in ensuring scholarly rigour and authenticity across its publications and educational projects. His responsibilities include academic review, verification of content, and maintaining fidelity to orthodox Sunni scholarship.

Through this work, he helps ensure that Ihsan Inkwell’s output combines timeless Islamic precision with clarity suited to the modern reader. His contribution safeguards not only the quality of presentation, but the integrity of the knowledge itself—allowing classical learning to be conveyed responsibly and effectively to a contemporary audience.
